Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry 10 PAs

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Specialty Doctor to join our specialist CAMHS team in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering high quality care to young people. We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic individual to join a forward-thinking, innovative service that meets the needs of young people today.

You will work within a large, committed team (over 50 staff) who pride themselves on a strong multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and deliver a high standard of care, with positive feedback and compliments received on a regular basis.

Milton Keynes CAMHS also has an innovative Liaison and Intensive Support Team (LIST) based in A&E 24 hours per day, which works closely with the adult Mental Health Hospital Liaison Team. You will be able gain expertise in a wide range of clinical conditions that present to Milton Keynes CAMHS, working with the team to provide NICE recommended interventions/ treatments to the children and young people of the community, and providing clinical supervision to specialty doctors and the team’s non-medical prescribers.

The CAMHS teams are located together on one site within the Milton Keynes Hospital Campus and in close proximity to the adult mental health teams and the CNWL-MK Headquarters. There is a large faculty of medical consultants across mental health and a comprehensive program of professional development to which you will have access.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out clinical duties associated with the provision of a psychiatric service to young people and adolescents who present with a variety of mental health presentations.
  • To take responsibility for assessment, diagnosis, treatment and continuing care planning in conjunction with other team members where appropriate.
  • To be an active part of the MDT.
  • To liaise with families, and others involved with a young person’s care.
  • To be on call once per week during the day for the LIST team.
  • To participate in the regular meetings related to the medical management of cases in the service.
  • To develop a special clinical interest with the Consultant agreement.
  • Where agreed between management and the post-holder to provide services for other agencies.
  • The above duties will be under the direction of the respective supervising Consultant.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • The successful applicant will provide high quality clinical care to children and adolescents until their 18th
  • The post-holder will be expected to promote a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency approach to delivery of person-centred care.
  • The post-holder will be based at Eaglestone Health Centre.
  • The post-holder will have access to office space, including personal computer equipment, on call mobile phone and access to mobile working.
  • There is shared secretarial support for this post.
  • The split of programmed activities will be 8 direct clinical care and 2 supporting professional activities.
  • The post-holder will be expected to participate in the Out of Hours on call rota alongside other Consultant and Specialty Doctor colleagues. The on-call frequency is 1:6 (4% on call supplement) and is second on call to the Liaison and Intensive Support Team (LIST)
