Applications are invited for a part time, 2 PA/session permanent post as Speciality Doctor in Acute Dental Care at King’s College Dental Hospital.
The Acute Dental Care department provides a diagnostic and treatment service for patients presenting or referred with urgent dental and oral conditions.
Clinical supervision of dental undergraduates and junior clinicians, in addition to patient care, are important components of the post. Applicants must be fully registered with the General Dental Council.

1. You have a general duty of care for the health, safety and well-being of yourself, work colleagues, visitors and patients within the hospital, in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post 2. You are required to observe the rules, policies, procedures and standards of King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations 3. You are required to observe and maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff 4. You are required to be responsible, with management support, for your own personal development and to actively contribute to the development of colleagues 5. The postholder has an important responsibility for and contribution to make to infection control and must be familiar with the infection control and hygiene requirements of this role. These requirements are set out in the National Code of Practice on Infection Control and in local policies and procedures, which will be made clear during your induction and subsequent refresher training. These standards must be strictly complied with at all times 6. All employees must hold an 'nhs.net' email account, which will be the Trust's formal route for e-mail communication. You are therefore required to check this regularly and to deal with such communication promptly
The assessment and treatment of individuals presenting with acute oral and dental conditions; • The assessment of patients for further treatment in specialist clinics and on undergraduate and dental therapy treatment and teaching clinics; • The assessment and triage of patients requiring emergency treatment; • To support the supervision of activity within the department and ensure that a high standard of patient care is maintained and delivered; • To support the clinical supervision and teaching of undergraduate dental students; • To support the clinical supervision and training of junior staff; • An active contribution to the continuing improvement of clinical service; • An active participation/contribution to departmental audit and research activities, as appropriate; • To enhance infection control by adoption of all appropriate measures, good professional practice and by following the Trust’s infection control policy; • To ensure compliance with the Government’s four-hour target for Accident & Emergency care
