Job overview

Liverpool Women’s Hospital is offering a fixed term post (LAS at ST5 level and above) for an initial period of 12 months. The department provides anaesthesia for Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Gynae oncology for both elective and emergency patients.

It is expected that the post holder will work flexibly under the direction of the Anaesthesia and Theatres Directorate to provide anaesthetic services.

Initially, all lists are under close supervision of a Consultant Anaesthetist, and depending on previous experience and competencies, the successful candidate will be expected to work unaccompanied.

Evidence of competencies will need to be captured on the lifelong learning platform.

The work on delivery suite encompasses elective and emergency obstetric anaesthesia in supporting the busy unit.

There is a Full Shift pattern rota for the department. The successful candidate will be expected in the normal run of his/her duties and within the contract and job description, to cover for the occasional brief absences of a colleague as far as is practical. On average 40-44 hours worked are calculated into a 12.09 PA contract.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake emergency on-call, including attendance at cardiac arrest calls.

These duties will be located mainly at Liverpool Women’s Hospital Crown Street.
