Applications are invited for a Speciality Doctor in Orthogeriatric Medicine. This is a substantive post where the post holder will be expected to provide peri operative medical care to patients with femoral fractures under the supervision of the Orthogeriatrics consultant.
A flexible approach will be needed as the post covers multiple hospital sites. Working under the supervision of the Orthogeriatric consultants at Nevill Hall Hospital, the successful applicant will also provide support to a consultant ward round at the Grange University Hospital and on occasion, provide cross cover at the Royal Gwent Hospital Site.
The post holder will work under the supervision of Orthogeriatric consultants at Nevill Hall Hospital and provide support to consultant ward round at University Grange Hospital on a rotational basis. On occasional basis, the applicant might be asked to cover Royal Gwent Hospital to provide sickness cover in an emergency.
The Trauma and Orthopaedic unit is a busy unit at Grange University Hospital and there are approximately 800 femoral fracture patients are admitted each year. These patients are step-downed 2 days after femoral fracture surgery, to the local general hospitals including Royal Gwent Hospital and Nevil Hall Hospital.
This position involves Regulated Activity with adults as defined by the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) and the following checks will be undertaken following any conditional offer:
- an adults barred list check
