The Community Speech & Language Therapy team at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust works across the localities of Liverpool and Sefton and as part of our development, we have vacancies for Band 6 Specialist Speech & Language Therapists based in Liverpool.
We are looking to grow our innovative community team, working in clinics, patient's homes, and nurseries/schools. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced clinician to join us in a permanent position.
This is specialist post, with opportunities to work across several clinical areas. Support from a range of highly specialist SLTs is in place, and access to external CPD courses is actively encouraged, along with opportunities to undertake research.
This post is based in the community, so there is an expectation that the the successful candidate will be able to travel to, and between various locations throughout the week.

Applications from candidates who are experienced B5 clinicians are welcome, and may be considered for a development post with competencies for reaching the B6 level of practise within 6-12 months being agreed on commencement.

The successful candidate will work within the neighbourhood team of speech and language therapists to provide a high-quality speech and language therapy service to children in a variety of community settings including clinics, homes, schools and nurseries.
We are looking for candidates who can assess and provide a range of therapeutic interventions using specialist knowledge to children with a variety of speech, language and communication difficulties.
Caseloads are actively treated through our evidence-based care pathways, so hands-on therapy is part of the job. We also have access to Lyrebird, an AI package that supports our administrative tasks; patient records, therapy plans, and reports.
The team work collaboratively with other partner agencies and carers to enable them to understand the communication needs and to provide appropriate advice, support and intervention.
Assess, implement and review Speech and Language Therapy treatment and discharge in a timely manner. Ensure that children/carers are involved in the planning and prioritisation of their care plans and facilitate joint decisions wherever possible. Work with clients on an individual and group basis. Work independently, as a member of a Speech and Language Therapy Team and as a member of a wider multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrate the ability to reflect on auditory, visual and kinaesthetic aspects of client’s communication and to identify appropriate strategies to facilitate and enhance communicative effectiveness Engage in collaborative working practices with the children and young people, their parents / carers, educational, social care and health professionals. Adapt practice to meet individual circumstances, including due regard for cultural and linguistic differences. Negotiate with carers, clients and others around individual case management including the management of the communication environment.
