Job overview

We are looking for a motivated Band 6 Adult Community Speech and Language Therapist to join our small team,  We are looking for an experienced, forward thinking, passionate individual , to provide excellent patient care, evidence based practice and support development of services .

Our service provides assessment, advice, therapy and education for those with acquired communication and swallowing disorders. We offer appointments by home visit, telephone, and video as well as outpatient clinics. Our caseload includes neurological degenerative conditions, stroke services, care homes and two community hospitals.

We cover Scarborough, Filey, Ryedale, Pocklington and Whitby and work alongside other community therapy and nursing services. The work base location and split of geographical caseload will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.

The preferred option for base is Scarborough Prospect Road YO12 7LB, however we are able to discuss options for the appointable candidate.

Please note a UK driving licence and being able to travel independently between sites is essential for this role.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role will include:

  • To provide life-changing treatment, support and care for adults who have difficulties with communication, eating, drinking and swallowing. You'll help people who, for physical or psychological reasons, have problems speaking and communicating.
  • To provide a high quality, comprehensive service in line with the guidance of the Humber NHS Foundation Trust, the Health and Care Professions Council and the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists. The paramount concern being the well-being of clients
  • To continue to demonstrate specialist clinical skills in practice and provide support and advice re the delivery of care in partnership with patients, relatives, staff, managers, and externally with other agencies
