Job overview

The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals are a world-renowned specialist tertiary Neurosciences and Major Trauma centre as well as Stroke Centre for the North East London and Essex sector and serve as a base for our Tower Hamlets Community Neuro/Therapy teams.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our Neuro with Trauma Rotation:

This role will give you the opportunity to work as part of the wider multidisciplinary team across Neuro Trauma (Orthopaedics and Plastics, and Neurosurgical/Neurology wards), our Rapid Access to Acute Rehab (RAAR) service, Stroke Services and Community Neuro Team; rotating within these acute and community services to provide seamless integrated care in line with our WeCare values and behaviours.

You will be responsible for assessing and providing evidence-based intervention for patients in our different services including determining in co-production their optimal rehabilitation/discharge pathway/management plan in line with their functional goals.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for physiotherapy, excellent communication skills, plenty of initiative and enthusiasm, and with the ability to work both autonomously and as a part of the wider MDT.

We offer a supportive and engaging environment to develop and grow our therapists including through regular supervision, education and training.

Main duties of the job

To assist and contribute to organising, developing and delivering a high-quality physiotherapy service provided to a wide variety of in-patients. These patients will have Neurological, Trauma, Respiratory and/or Amputee impairments.

The post will include rotations through Neuro and Trauma wards, Rapid Access to Acute Rehab (RAAR), Stroke services, and the Tower Hamlets Community Neurological Team.

It is expected that this scheme will expand to include rotations into the hyperacute environment of adult intensive care, and musculoskeletal secondary care follow up services to enhance the trauma and neuro pathways.
