Job overview

We are looking for a 0.6 WTE Specialist Psychologist, Psychotherapist or Psychological Therapist to join the Staff Support team at South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, part-time, on a 24 month charity funded contract. This post involves supporting the continued development, implementation and evaluation of the Post Incident Pathway. The post holder will support the Post-Incident Pathway Lead with several elements of the Post-Incident workstream within Staff Support, including the expansion of the project to include the roll out of Trauma Informed Operational Debriefs (TIOD) and Group EMDR (GTEP) across the Trust. There will also be scope to have some input into our other Staff Support projects (including CISS,  Schwartz Rounds, Reflect, Support and Resolve and Team Support Plans). We are seeking a candidate who can effectively engage stakeholders and take a leadership role in certain projects at an organisation-wide level.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must have exceptional organisational skills and demonstrable ability lead on projects, delivering both on target and on time. They must be skilled in delivering training, engaging stakeholders and they must be able to deliver both Trauma Focused CBT and EMDR on an individual assessment and treatment basis. The candidate must be hard working and able to take initiative whilst holding strong ‘team-player’ values. Experience working in staff support, awareness of the impact of trauma on healthcare staff, narrative or systemic therapy training and project management skills are highly desirable.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To support the continued development, implementation and evaluation of the Staff Support Post Incident Pathway, ensuring systematic and consistent access to evidence-based interventions for all staff following trauma exposure in the workplace.
• To support the Post Incident Pathway lead in the roll out of two new projects, funded by Maudsley Charity
• To lead on the design and delivery of training around Trauma Informed Operational Debriefs and Group EMDR (GTEP)
• To take responsibility for the reporting and presentation of outcomes to the charity and other key stakeholders.
• To ensure that staff support is accessed by the most marginalised and ‘at risk’ groups, encouraging a preventative approach to workplace mental health and wellbeing.
• To support the development of psychologically safe work environments across the Trust.
• To receive and provide training, clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate to the role.
• To undertake service evaluation, audit, research and policy development.
• To work as an autonomous professional within professional guidelines and codes of conduct, guided by principles and policies or procedures of the service, taking responsibility for interpreting policies within defined parameters.
• To monitor and evaluate the interventions/support provided within the pathway and be able to respond to staff need, and to continue to ensure interventions are in line with the evidence base.
• To ensure equitable access to the Post Incident Pathway across the Trust and to provide active in reach where needed.
• To work across the different Trust sites to develop and ongoing relationship with staff and managers
• To work closely with People and OD colleagues and think about the systems and impact on trauma in the workplace
• To work in partnership with academic institutions to develop innovation in this area.
