An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative physiotherapist to join the physiotherapy team within the acute medical team at South Tyneside and Sunderland FT. The post holder will work alongside members of the multidisciplinary team delivering physiotherapy to effectively treat a variety of different conditions and pathologies on the inpatient wards including paediatrics, facilitate hospital discharge and provide rehabilitation towards patient centred goals. This post will also include paediatric outpatient respiratory patients and sweat tests. We are a friendly and welcoming team.

The post will include using evidence-based patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and maintain associated records for patients with multi-pathology and complex needs. You would also have a responsibility for managing your own specialist clinical caseload and be required to work flexibly across all aspects of the service.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside members of the multidisciplinary team and deliver physiotherapy to patients in the acute medical wards at Sunderland and South Tyneside Hospital. You will need to be able to demonstrate a wide variety of clinical skills including respiratory and rehabilitation skills and complex multi pathologies. In addition to your clinical skills you require proven problem-solving skills to prevent hospital readmission, and demonstrate resilience and flexibility in dealing with changes in service provision.

You will have responsibility for supervising and coaching physiotherapists, students and support staff within the service. You will require good time management, and prioritising skills working closely with the physiotherapy teams and the multidisciplinary team members. There will be support for Continuous Professional Development.

The team is a 7-day service and therefore, you would be expected to be part of our weekend and Bank holiday rota and overnight on call service. The post may include respiratory outpatient clinics.
