Specialist Physiotherapist in Occupational Health

SOHS is responsible for assisting managers in delivering the Trust’s objectives, in particular:

  • Participate in the provision of a high-quality occupational health service to clients of SOHS, including the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of occupational health activities and standards.
  • Deliver specialist OH advice within the Trust and to external client groups as per agreed contracts and Service Level Agreements.
  • Promote OH within the Trust and maintain an understanding and good working relationships with all client groups.
  • Respond to the professional developments in OH Practice, Health and Safety Legislation and any other legislation impacting on good clinical practice.
  • Be aware of new initiatives and, together with the OH Clinical Nurse Manager develop policies to ensure that legal requirements are communicated effectively to clients to minimize health and safety risks.

Main duties of the job

  • To assume daily operational responsibility for service delivery and all aspects of SOHS work delegated by the Clinical Nurse Manager including coaching, mentoring and clinical supervision of staff and engaging in continuing professional development.
  • To assist with the development of evidence-based practice and organisation of the work of the service.
  • To participate in the development of service and, where required, Trust Policies and procedures, working productively to identify through research, the appropriate terminology required to satisfy policy requirements of the Trust.
  • To assist with setting and implementing measurable standards, audit of clinical practice and procedures to monitor, evaluate and enhance the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the OH Service.
  • To assist with the continued development and promotion of the service which will include involvement with committees and working groups within the Trust.
  • To promote all aspects of Health, Safety and Welfare within the Trust and for any or the services clients.
  • To assist with evaluating developments within the profession and changes in legislation to ensure that the Trust is continually updating its practice.
  • To have relevant expertise and knowledge related to assessment and management of OH patients and maintain clinical competence relating to MSK health issues
  • To carry out a portfolio of work and study in line with the service’s developments and priorities as determined by the OH Management team.
