As a teaching hospital we have a wealth of experience across many clinical areas, and we work closely with our tertiary centres in the surrounding area for shared care patients. We have a high numbers of patients, and high flow through the service so experience of managing a busy caseload is essential.

We are constantly looking at ways to empower our team, drive Quality Improvement initiatives and provide a strong, positive team culture, with emphasis on wellbeing and resilience within the department.  We aim to celebrate and cultivate colleagues within our department and actively look for opportunities for social inclusion.

This post is predominantly based at Queens Hospital Burton but may involve some working at Royal Derby Hospital.

Main duties of the job

The department currently provides a service to multiple areas within paediatrics including faltering growth, paediatric feeding disorders, food allergies including cow's milk allergies and coeliac disease. The role will include working in both inpatient and outpatient clinics as well as MDT working with medical teams and other health care professionals.

The department also offers support to specialist services such as feeding clinics, cystic fibrosis and offers a comprehensive service to children with diabetes.  There may be scope for rotation within the team to reflect the needs of the establishment.

You will work as an active member of the Paediatric Dietetic team and wider department. We are a welcoming, forward thinking and supportive team of paediatric dietitians with support from dietetic assistant practitioners.  We are routinely involved in project work and service improvement and follow evidence-based practice.

We pride ourselves on having a very close relationship with the wider MDTs within the hospital, including working with consultants, specialist nurses, speech and language therapy, physiotherapists, psychologists and the play team. This gives us the opportunity for advanced clinical supervision as respected members of the team.
