Job overview

We are pleased to offer an exciting 9-month/ (until April 2027) opportunity for a Band 6 Paediatric Dietitian to cover a secondment vacancy at Evelina London Hospitals. This 1.0 WTE role provides the chance to gain valuable experience across a variety of specialist paediatric clinical areas.

The successful candidate will undertake rotations including General Medical/HDU, Neurosurgery, Cardiac, Metabolics, Allergy, and Respiratory care, working across both hospital sites within a large teaching hospital environment. We are seeking a motivated, adaptable, and enthusiastic dietitian with a strong passion for paediatrics and a collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teamwork.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of  the  Paediatric Dietetic Team  responsible for providing individualised dietetic advice to inpatients and outpatients, and carers across Evelina London Children’s Hospitals.

Specialist Rotational Role: Our rotational programme includes six 9-month clinical rotations across specialist areas such as acute general medicine/HDU, neurosurgery, cardiology, allergy, metabolic, and respiratory (Royal Brompton), involving both inpatient and outpatient care.

Expert Clinical Practice: Responsible for delivering specialist, evidence-based dietetic care to paediatric patients, including nutritional assessment, complex case management, and attendance at ward rounds, clinics, and MDT meetings.

Outpatient & Community Liaison: Manages outpatient clinics (virtual and in-person), provides dietetic advice to families and carers, and coordinates with community teams to ensure continuity of nutritional care and safe discharge planning.

Special Interest Areas: Each rotation includes the opportunity to gain additional experience or supervision in focused areas such as diabetes, ketogenics, neonates, and paediatric intensive care.

Communication & Education: Utilises advanced communication skills to educate and support patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds, and provides expert nutritional guidance based on clinical data and national prescribing standards.
