Job overview

This advert is for a band 6 position but we also welcome applications from new graduates.

Moorfields Eye Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic Orthoptist to join the team working to work at Moorfields at St George's Hospital (four days per week) and one day per week at City Road. This offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work across a comprehensive group of specialist services in conjunction with providing core Orthoptic services to the local population.

The successful candidate will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team which includes ophthalmologists, nurses, optometrists, technicians, administrative staff and health care assistants.

Main duties of the job

Across the two sites there are a full range of sub-speciality clinics including botulinum toxin, motility, neuro-ophthalmology, adnexal, rapid access, MaxFax and dedicated new case Orthoptic clinics. The service also supports highly specialised paediatric clinics alongside children vision clinics and SEN services.  Clinical buddy support is available within the service.

The service has strong links with education, providing academic and clinical training to a range of health care professionals and preparing learners for formal examination. The service regularly contributes to clinical research for internal and external research grants.
