Job overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged for an enthusiastic dietitian with a specialist interest home enteral nutrition to join the Harrow Community team, located at Alexandra Avenue Health and Social Care in Harrow.

Harrow is home to a diverse population, with a wide range of nutrition-related conditions. Our comprehensive community team offers extensive clinic services to Harrow GP practices, operates specialised nutrition support clinics, conducts home visits for patients in residential and nursing homes requiring nutrition support, and facilitates group teaching sessions for patients.

Additionally, our team provides training for healthcare professionals, including community nurses and nursing home staff, and is actively involved in student training.

A full, valid, UK driving licence is required unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010) however ownership of a vehicle is not necessary, as the team has a shared car available for your use.

Main duties of the job

This position involves working with patients who require home enteral nutrition in their own homes, as well as in nursing and residential homes. It also includes participation in general GP outpatient clinics and specialist nutrition support clinics. Our general GP outpatient clinics involving a wide range of conditions such as type 2 diabetes, weight management, coronary heart disease prevention, paediatric overweight/obesity and fussy eating (over the age of 3 years).

You will gain experience across various clinical areas, including stroke rehabilitation, neurological conditions such as motor neuron disease (MND), and learning or physical disabilities. You will collaborate with our Band 7 Specialist Home Enteral Nutrition lead and have regular interaction with members of the multidisciplinary team, including GP practices, hospital dietitians, pharmacists, and community-based teams such as speech and language therapy and district nursing.

As part of a wider community team of seven dietitians, you will engage in projects and resource development, as well as continuing professional development (CPD) activities
