Job overview

Are you looking for the challenge of maintaining complex, cutting edge medical technology?  There is a vacancy for a Specialist Electronics Technician based in the Radiotherapy Department at the Royal Preston Hospital.

You will have the opportunity to work on state of the art medical linear accelerators and associated radiotherapy equipment

The department currently has 6 Elekta Versa  and 2 Elekta Harmony Linear Accelerators.

All linear accelerators have VisionRT Surface Guided Radiotherapy systems installed, the department is a centre of excellence for SGRT

We have 2 GE wide bore CT scanners and a superficial X-Ray therapy unit.

A phase of Linear accelerator replacement is underway, currently one being commissioned, one installed in early 2024 and one due for replacement in 2025.

You should have basic engineering skills and be able to use hand, power and machine tools.  A practical knowledge of IT and networking is essential.

The successful applicant will join an electronics/multi-skilled section specialising in linear accelerator support.  Dedication, flexibility and willingness for some out-of-hours work are essential for this role.

Although the vast majority of you time will be spent at Royal Preston Hospital we work closely with other centres within the North West Radiotherapy Operational Delivery Network and some working at these sites will be required.

Visits to the department to discuss the post and to get an idea of what we do are encouraged.
