Job overview

The Trust is seeking a Specialist Grade Perinatal Psychiatrist with expertise in Perinatal Mental Health to join the Specialist Perinatal Service. The service covers Perinatal Psychiatry in Oldham and Rochdale and North Manchester.  The post holder (if AC Approved) will have Responsible Clinician responsibility for the community patients

Cluster 3 includes the maternity unit at North Manchester General Hospital, Oldham Hospital and Tameside Hospital. Cluster 3 is based at Central Park.

The team consists of:

WTE Substantive Consultant Psychiatrist x2 WTE Specialist Psychiatrist (this post) WTE Team Manager Senior Practitioner Community Psychiatric Nurses Consultant Psychologist and team psychologists Occupational Therapy Social Worker Nursery nurses Medical Secretary Team Administrator

Main duties of the job

  • To provide medical leadership in Perinatal Psychiatry in Cluster 3 alongside the two substantive Perinatal Consultants. •    As a medical expert, to be able to take a lead in service development. This will necessitate excellent influence and joint working skills. •    To provide first line generic assessments to any patient referred to the service. All members of the team will be able to provide these assessments. •    To provide medical support and supervision to the team. •    To contribute to the development of the service in conjunction with other Team members. •    To supervise junior doctors acting within the team •    To participate in audit, service development and evaluation in collaboration with the Governance Team, and the Trust’s Research and Development Team. •    To participate in and organize teaching within the cluster and at the agency interfaces, for example, with colleagues in liaison services, urgent care services, social care and maternity
