Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Specialist Dermatology doctor with special interest in Paediatric Dermatology to work with an established team of six consultants within the dermatology directorate. The appointee will have clinical responsibilities at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and University Hospital of North Tess, Stockton-on- Tees.

The post is for permanent Specialist doctor to work independently at both sites and be part of consultant on call rota.

The post is advertised on six sessions per week, but consideration would be given to those wishing to work fewer sessions. The post holder will have 2.5 sessions at UHNT and rest of the sessions at the James Cook University Hospital.

Specialist with subspecialty interest in paediatric dermatology is essential for this post. Candidates will have opportunities to progress within the department in a SAS role taking on various roles in service development, research or leadership. If they wish to take on CESR, they will be fully supported to achieve relevant competencies. There is access to a supportive SAS team within the trust and a SAS tutor along with a CESR SAS lead.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of dermatology- Clinical as Outpatient clinics within the two hospitals.
  • To undertake on call activities on sessional and weekend basis with participation in consultant on call rota.
  • Take part in annual appraisals (mandatory for all consultants and SAS doctors) and revalidation. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.
  • Active involvement in audit
  • Involvement in research – the department is actively engaged in several CRN research projects.
  • The Trust supports requirements for continuing professional development as laid down by the Royal Colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
  • Support the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching commitments of the department
  • Any other appropriate duties which may be required as per job plan
