An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning Disability or Mental Health Nurse to join Learning Disability Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (LD CAMHS) in Norfolk.

We are seeking a compassionate, innovative, and enthusiastic Band 6 Learning Disability or Mental Health Nurse to join our 'Outstanding' community Children's and Young People's Specialist services. You would be joining a friendly and supportive highly specialist multidisciplinary team and would contribute to the development of nursing provision within our Learning Disability Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (Starfish and Starfish Plus).

This role would suit someone who has experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions; who has a strong value base; and who is committed to working collaboratively and flexibly for the needs of children and young people. We are looking for someone who has experience of working with children and their families, who is compassionate, understanding, and respectful.

The post is 18.5 hours per week and will work across Norfolk, including Kings Lynn, Great Yarmouth, and Norwich. Base is negotiable and flexible working is supported and includes agile/home working where relevant.

Main duties of the job

The Starfish and Starfish Plus teams offer assessment and intervention for young people of school age (4-18 years) with a diagnosed learning disability who are experiencing significant behavioural and/or mental health difficulties.

Provide safe, child‑centred, evidence‑based nursing care to children, young people, and their families.

  • Assess needs, develop and review individualised care plans, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Build effective therapeutic relationships using strong communication skills.
  • Manage a caseload and maintain accurate, timely, confidential records.
  • Deliver individual and group interventions, including play‑based approaches.
  • Apply sound clinical judgement supported by supervision and best practice.
  • Use standardised assessment tools and adapt interventions to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies, including safeguarding processes.
  • Respect social and cultural diversity while prioritising safeguarding.
  • Participate in case reviews, meetings, and conferences as required.

Build therapeutic relationships with children, young people, and families. Manage a caseload and maintain accurate, confidential records. Apply sound clinical judgement and safeguarding principles. Participate in case reviews and multi‑agency meetings.
