An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Dietitian to join Hywel Dda's Paediatric Diabetes Team in its mission to improve and empower children and young people living with diabetes. This permanent, part time position (18.75 hours/week) would suit a highly motivated Dietitian with knowledge and experience of diabetes and/or paediatric dietetics.

The post holder will support the provision of structured education across the health board sites and hold a clinical case load of children and young people with diabetes.
The post holder will work as a specialist children’s diabetes dietitian and an integral member of the Children’s Diabetes Service, managing a complex caseload of children and young people and supporting others to work effectively with children, young people and their families with diabetes.
They will use specialist dietetic knowledge and skills: assessing, planning, implementing treatment and delivering dietetic interventions in a variety of settings including community, outpatient, and hospital and group settings in line with the needs of the patient, their family and carers.
Provide education, training and expert support to develop the knowledge and skills of others’ working with children, young people and families in relation to the effective dietary management of diabetes.
Contribute to the work of dietetic and children’s diabetes services, actively participating in development, evaluation and improvement work, and the implementation of policy, guidance and standards.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
This post is advertised as a Band 6. However, applicants who do not currently hold all the necessary competencies to a Band 6 level are warmly encouraged to apply. If successful, they will be appointed under Annex 21 rules, whereby 70% of the top of Band 6 will be payable in the first year and 75% in the second year.
Applicants will be fully supported to develop the competencies required to fulfil the role within a 24-month period. Following successful completion and attainment of the skills and competencies for the role, the post holder will then be paid at Band 6 (minimum point on the scale).
As part of the Annex 21 process, there is no financial penalty to those who apply for this role where the percentage will cause a reduction in pay, subsequently a local protection would be put in place until the pay has caught up.
