Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CAMHS (CBT) Practitioner to join Hammersmith and Fulham Tier 2 Community CAMHS team in a training and progression (band 6-7) role. The team is comprised of psychologists, assistant psychologists, trainee and qualified CBT practitioners, family therapists, child psychotherapists, social workers and Child Wellbeing Practitioners.

We are very pleased to have created this new role as part of ongoing investment and service expansion. This new role is anticipated to increase access to CBT for children, young people and their families/carers within the service.

The team is a large multidisciplinary team, offering a range of targeted, early interventions to children and young people age 0-18 who are experiencing mild-moderate mental health difficulties.

The service is committed to broadening accessibility to ensure that robust, evidence based mental health support is accessible to all in the community and is offered in a timely way. Initiatives are being implemented to broaden access, including through the use of innovative digital tools as well as embedding clinicians in community settings. Also developing relationships in community organisations such as youth groups, faith groups as well as in children’s centres and GP settings.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will join an established multi-disciplinary CAMHS which is responsible for providing Tier 2 mental health services within the borough.  The post holder will work in Hammersmith and Fulham Community CAMHS Team with young people aged 0- 18 years. The clinic setting is based in central Hammersmith and there may be some limited travel to other parts of the borough to attend community settings.

The post holder would provide a qualified specialist CBT service to children and adolescents in Hammersmith and Fulham Tier 2 CAMHS aged 0 -18 and their families, across all sectors of care; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy; offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers.

The current team consists of Systemic Family Therapists, Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Social Workers, Trainee and qualified CBT Therapists and Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners, providing multiple perspectives and allowing for MDT discussions.

The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures, and will have opportunities to contribute to audit, policy and service development within the area served by the team.
