An opportunity to join the Microbiology Department at the Royal London Hospital (the hub site for the NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership) on a 12 month fixed term contract. We are jointly owned by Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. We are an arms-length organisation, and we have our own board and governance framework, with each of the three trusts having an equal voice and vote in the running of the Pathology Partnership. We are one of the largest pathology providers in the NHS, and we bring together the strengths of teams from each of the three trusts into a single organisation, dedicated to the provision of high quality and cost-effective pathology services.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is required to carry out scientific and technical duties in the Microbiology departments within the NHS East & South East London Pathology  Partnership. The post holder will be based at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel site.The post holder may also be required to work across other Patrhology Partnership laboratory sites as and when required.

  • They will  provide a high quality and responsive service and ensure that all regulatory and accreditation requirements are met.
  • They will ensure that all local and national policies are followed.
  • They will promote a culture of continuous improvement in both service delivery and quality.
  • They will take part in training of Medical Laboratory Assistants, Associate Practitioners, Biomedical Scientists,  Junior Doctors and MSc students.
