Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic qualified Clinical Physiologist/Scientist to become part of a friendly team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The post holder will be based at Charing Cross Hospital and will be a key member of a team providing multi-site Clinical Neurophysiology services and committment to quality improvement in line with our current pursuit of UKAS accreditaion.

We provide the full range of neurophysiological investigations for adults and children,  including Electroencephalography (EEG), Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), multi-modal Evoked Potentials (EPs), Ambulatory and Video-Telemetry.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and team working skills and will work collaboratively with the Lead Clinical Physiologist and other healthcare professionals to maintain and improve service provision.

The post holder should have a B.Sc in Clinical Neurophysiology with AHCS/RCCP registration or be a HCPC registered Clinical Scientist.

Main duties of the job

  • Plan, perform and interpret a range of neurophysiological investigations to a high level of competence for patients from a wide range of ages and of varying abilities, taking remedial actions where necessary.
  • Contribute to the efficient and effective management of physical resources within the department, including ordering of consumables, restocking and managing deliveries.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of neurophysiology staff, trainees and other visiting staff groups e.g. student nurses, doctors or allied health professionals.
  • Participate in audit and contribute to the regular review of department protocols.
  • Contribute to clinical trials, research and development programmes where necessary.
  • Contribute to planning and implementation of the annual audit programme in line with IQIP standards.
  • Facilitate patient and public involvement in the development of the neurophysiology service, reviewing patient feedback including friends and family data and assisting with service improvements in response.
  • Assist in the investigation of complaints, conflicts and issues reporting findings in a timely and appropriate manner in line with Trust policy and take remedial action as appropriate.
