Candidates must hold UK recognised PG Certificate/PG Diploma or Certificate in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent and registered with the HCPC /NMC

Main duties of the job

  • Perform high quality ultrasound examinations using analytical and judgement skills to interpret complex images.
  • Formulate comprehensive, diagnostic, independently written reports for each examination
  • Communicate distressing and unwelcome/unexpected news directly to patients using tact, empathy and diplomacy.
  • Communicate complex information regarding diagnosis/treatment directly to clinicians and patients.
  • Maintain personal clinical expertise in ultrasound scanning including ongoing CPD
  • Review, update and maintain the patients clinical records.
  • Participate in teaching students and clinicians in the field of ultrasound. Participate in the vetting of ultrasound requests.
  • Deal with conflicting demands from different staff groups at all levels.
  • Have flexible approach to work and ability to work under pressure of high workloads.
