We are nationally recognised for our commitment to delivering high quality, compassionate care, and are currently seeking Registered Nurses to join our established and friendly Renal Dialysis team.

The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton operate dialysis services across three sites and deliver both acute and chronic haemodialysis treatments. As we continue to expand our dialysis provision, we are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for new team members to join us at our Derby Dialysis Unit.

Comprehensive support is provided for all staff. Our Practice Development Facilitator ensures that every new starter receives guidance and mentoring throughout their induction. Training will take place on the Derby site.

To succeed in this position, you must demonstrate adaptability in the working environment and possess a genuine willingness to further your clinical and leadership skills. The Renal Dialysis Units are operational from Monday to Saturday, offering dialysis sessions to patients in the morning, afternoon and evening. Flexibility is essential, as you will be expected to cover shifts across these hours, working four days per week. Opportunities for cross-site working are also supported, providing further avenues for professional development.

Main duties of the job

• Ensuring high standard of patient care
• Assessing patients clinical needs and implementing care to nursing and clinical standards
• Managing and leading a clinical workload
• Working with the MDT to ensure that the needs of the complex chronic patients are met.
• Monitoring the quality of care delivered using clinical standards & performing audits in conjunction with other members of the MDT takes necessary action to ensure excellence in nursing practice.
• Participating in professional and personal development of the Nursing Team.
• Supporting the nursing team in the clinical area to minimise and identify potential environmental & clinical risks.
• Being involved in change and development of the unit
• Taking charge of shifts on a regular basis
• Running clinics alongside renal consultants
• Leading projects
• Managing conflict: staff and patients
• Troubleshooting and handling difficult situations
• Supporting the Senior Sisters with ward management duties
