Job summary

Main duties of the job

To assist the Senior Nurse on shift by acting as the Nurse co-ordinator of the department in maintaining standards, and in the management, development and education of staff Nurses, support workers and other team members. To take clinical responsibility for patients within the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre when coordinating and managerially responsible for staff in the absence of a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse. To take charge of an area of the department i.e. triage, majors etc, ensuring safe, effective, timely care is delivered. You will be expected to oversee and coordinate the department or an area within the department, providing support, leadership and clinical expertise to other members of the team whilst following the appropriate escalation. To maintain and uphold standards of care in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct, and to provide specialised programmes of nursing care to a diverse range of patients in UECC. Act as an advocate for patients, relatives and other staff members.
