An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Ward Sister to join our compassionate, friendly and forward-thinking team. Ward 1 is a 21 bedded acute medical ward which specialises in Respiratory.

This is an ideal opportunity to further your career increasing your knowledge, clinical skills, professionally and managerially, and work closely with the Multidisciplinary team within a positive and challenging environment.

There are  opportunities to learn new skills such as high flow oxygen (Opti-flow). Chest drain management and NIV (Non-Invasive Ventilation).

We are looking for highly motivated leader to work within our dynamic team whilst ensuring high standards of care, demonstrating the Health Boards values and professionalism.

Main duties of the job

We are a warm, friendly team of professionals who work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team to provide high quality, holistic driven, evidence-based care to all our patients.

You will be required to demonstrate competence in assessing, planning and evaluating the care needs of a group of patients with support from your ward manager, colleagues and educator team.

The ward has four Respiratory Consultants who work closely with the team on a daily basis. The Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialists also work very closely with the MDT to enable prompt discharges and facilitate community needs of the respiratory patient being discharged. The Respiratory Clinical Nurse specialists also support with any training needs and ensure ongoing regular teaching to ensure that staff are practicing with the most up to date evidence-based practice.
