Applications are invited for appointment to a Simulation Fellow within Medical Education. This unique post offers an exciting opportunity for Medical Trainees to develop their experience and skills as medical educators within simulation based education working closely with the Medical Education Department. The fellowship consists of an out of programme experience for a period of 12 months attached to the Simulation and Interactive Learning (SaIL) Centre within Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). The post offers the opportunity to commence in August 2026, for one year.
SaIL has a robust heritage of fellowships alongside development of courses and simulation-based interventions for staff delivering care to the wide array of patients seen within the trust. We provide training and support across all professions within GSTT, including medical trainees, nursing, and allied healthcare, to promote safe and effective patient care. We provide point of care simulation, centre-based simulation and clinical skills training to help directorate specialities deliver their own simulation based education delivery plans.
The post-holder will have an educational supervisor to support development in delivering simulation-based education, in doing so following our faculty development framework and develop a qualification in medical education. There is an expectation of participation in project work, with the opportunity to present work at local, national or potentially international conferences.
Previous experience as simulation education faculty is helpful. The successful applicant will assimilate the skills required to design, deliver and debrief simulation-based educational initiatives. As part of their development in becoming experienced faculty they will be undertaking duties such as quality assurance, peer reviews and supporting faculty development.
Applicants must hold full registration with the GMC.
