The Simulation Technician will work as a member of the Dartford and Gravesham’s Medical Education Team to support the delivery and growth of Simulation Based Education (SBE). The role demands a high level of technical, administrative and communication skills that will support all aspects of Simulation. The post holder will be working cross site to ensure the maintenance of the Simulation suites and clinical skills rooms are upheld.
There is a requirement to operate the computer and audio/video (A/V) technology, including all manikins and Simulation suite equipment. Setting up and taking down the manikins and clinical skills equipment for specific training sessions will be required. The post holder will have responsibility for the preparation of the training environments, managing equipment stock levels, maintaining equipment and ensuring resources are available for all training programmes. The post holder will also assist in the provision of audio-visual and other learning resources, in the clinical skills, Simulation and educational environments. This position involves working closely with the Simulation Lead and Simulation Faculty to provide a safe, well equipped skills training environment.
While this post is predominantly working Monday to Friday there may be occasional weekend work.

As a Simulation Technician, you will be part of the wider simulation and medical education team delivering SBE and clinical skills sessions to a wide range of learners including; Consultants, Junior doctors, SAS and Locally Employed Doctors, medical students from King’s College London, St. George’s University and Kent and Medway Medical School, Nurses, Physiotherapists and Radiographers. The department also runs a strong insitu programme with good engagement across the clinical areas, the Simulation Technician will be involved in the smooth running of these sessions.
Specific Responsibilities: -
To work closely with the Simulation Fellows, Clinical Simulation Practitioner and Human Factors & Simulation Specialist Lead, Foundation Leads, College Tutors and SAS Lead in ensuring all learners receive clinical skills teaching opportunities in line with their curriculum.
To work with the Simulation Fellows, Clinical Simulation Practitioner and Human Factors & Simulation Specialist Lead, Director of Undergraduate Medical Education and the relevant and in organising simulation training.
To work in close collaboration with practice development nurses and the multidisciplinary team to ensure the development of patient focused, collaborative protocols/ practices/procedures and care.
With the Simulation Team, assist in supporting trainees or teams with difficulties by offering additional training with clinical skills/simulation in its widest sense and technology enhanced learning to achieve NHSE and CQC standards.
To continually maintain and develop own professional knowledge and expertise in line with the need of the role in Trust.
To contribute to the management of the monitoring and auditing process of clinical skills training, to ensure data is widely available and is transparent, as well as compliant with the various external or internal guidelines.
Act as the main point of contact for all technical aspects of SBE activities including, but not limited to, high-fidelity manikins and audio-visual systems.
