Post Start Date: August 2026.
An exciting opportunity has opened and we are inviting applications for a 12 month, fixed term/secondment Shoulder Research Fellowship, interested in working within the Wrightington Upper Limb Unit. Wrightington Hospital's status as a Centre of Excellence in the treatment of musculo-skeletal disease has its origins in the seminal work of Professor Sir John Charnley, who pioneered hip replacement surgery involving the techniques of low-friction arthroplasty and also innovative advances to counter post-operative infection. Wrightington's reputation for excellence attracts highly talented Consultants. Trauma and Orthopaedics has achieved surgical hub accreditation by the GIRFT programme, meaning Wrightington Hospital has been nationally recognised in a range of criteria for meeting top clinical and operational standards, and is a visible marker of excellent quality, as well as being the Greater Manchester hub for orthopaedics.
The post is to work under the supervision of Professor Monga, and to provide an opportunity for dedicated research and training in research methodology. This post is designed for a Trainee committed to understanding the clinical research methodology. It would be suitable both for trainees aspiring to achieve a training rotation and also for those who are already in a training rotation, who wish to commit an intercalated year, and be involved in research.
We are committed to achieving a high-quality service delivery and can offer a supportive and training focused environment, within a friendly team.
