Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sexual Health nurse, to join our friendly, enthusiastic and committed team within the axess Cheshire East Sexual Health dept based in Crewe.

Experienced RGNs who have both/either a contraception (DFSRH or equivalent) and STI qualification (STIF Intermediate) will be considered.

The successful applicant will be required to deliver patient care and manage all areas within the department demonstrating professionalism, clinical expertise with excellent communication skills in all aspects of their work. The work is varied and includes conducting consultations for both contraception and STI screening. Working from PGD to dispense both contraceptive and STI treatments, STI management and health advising & results management is also required as part of the role. The provision of LARC methods including sub dermal implant insertion.

An annexe 21 training post will be considered if you do not have the relevant sexual health qualifications/experience.

This role is based in the Crewe clinic, however may require travel to other clinics within the East Cheshire area.

Working pattern will also include evenings

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As an autonomous practitioner undertake independent consultations with clients, including assessing, monitoring and evaluating individual client's contraceptive and sexual health needs including referral to other Health Professionals required.

Issue methods of contraception according to Patient Group Directions & clinical protocols

Provide STI screening and treatment according to Patient Group directions & clinical protocols. Encouraging partners attendance and treatment when necessary.

Provide advice and cytology screening as appropriate, according to local policies.

To take responsibility for the smooth running of the day to day management of the sexual health service.
