Job overview

We are looking for two enthusiastic Senior Therapy Technical Instructors to join the Medical Therapies Directorate at UHNM

Post 1 - Static Respiratory Medicine Royal Stoke

This post offers the opportunity to deliver therapy provision to specialist respiratory wards which are recognised as regional centres for Motor Neurone Disease, Non Invasive Critical Care & Complex Tracheostomy Weaning.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to embed themselves in an area that is at the forefront of acute hospital services. Medical patients are one of the biggest cohorts of patients seen in the acute trust and this specialist post lends itself naturally to innovative ways of working. It is also supported by a large therapy team which will give the post holder an excellent opportunity to consolidate their therapy skills as well as building clinical expertise that will enhance and broaden their rehabilitation skills & discharge planning with this complex group of patients.

Post 2 - Rotational County Hospital

This post offers the opportunity to work within the medical and surgical teams providing respiratory, post-surgical, medical, frail and emergency front of house care for patients across the West Midlands. The post will involve working alongside a therapies team but managing an independent caseload providing assessment, delivering rehabilitative care and involvement in early discharge planning and onward referral throughout our patients rehabilitative pathway.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will be involved in early rehabilitation and discharge planning within a range of different conditions therefore should have an awareness of rehabilitation and discharge planning.

Supervision will be provided by the Band 6/7 Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist and continuous professional development is supported through appraisal and internal and external training.

The posts are clinical but also have a leadership role to support and develop the Band 3 Therapy Technical Instructors as well as our apprenticeship staff within the therapies department. Training is provided to help support with these developments.

Therapy Services work within a 7 day shift system therefore the post holder will be required to work as part of the weekend, late shift and bank holiday rotas.
