Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for applications for a  Senior Pre-treatment radiographer.   Band 5 radiographers with a minimum of 18 months experience will be considered for these posts.

As a Band 6 Senior Therapeutic Radiographer in pre-treatment, you would  have the opportunity to rotate through all pre-treatment areas including CT,  calculation and fusion work and treatment planning.

As a large regional centre you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of treatment techniques  including paediatric radiotherapy, image guided IMRT, SABR, SRS and total body electron and photon treatments.

In order to cover the service needs, the post-holder will need to be able to work flexible shifts over the working week with normal hours between 07.30 and 20.00.

To rotate through all the relevant clinical areas of pre-treatment under the direction of the sectional team leaders.

To work and lead as part of a team of staff and to assist in the provision of a high quality Radiotherapy Service.

To comply with and contribute to the maintenance of ISO 9001:2015 quality system for the department.

To participate in audit, and the clinical research and development of techniques and equipment.

To ensure high technical standards and patient care standards are maintained during simulation and treatment.

To participate in the training and education programme of student and junior radiographers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To undertake all tasks relating to the preparation of patients for Radiotherapy relevant to the area of rotation to include CT, Calcs and Fusion and Treatment Planning.

To undertake cannulation and delivery of x-ray contrast as required.

Develop, record and demonstrate competencies in the use of all relevant radiotherapy equipment and allied information technology.

Ensure accurate delivery of treatment prescriptions, and interpret and explain technical information for others as required. Ensure treatment prescriptions are annotated correctly and any inaccuracies reported following departmental procedures.

Maintain knowledge of all current Radiotherapy studies being carried out within the department and the Radiographers role within them.

Participate in the organisation and regulation of the daily activity of the assigned work area, and to provide and update the required statistics.

Observe all operational protocols, procedures and work instructions, and to work with guidance from Team leaders and Principal Radiographers to assist in setting, implementing and monitoring quality standards.

Lead by example to provide an efficient, caring, quality conscious service to all patients. Monitor the quality of service through audit.
