An exciting opportunity has become available within the Maternity Theatres at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Supporting the wider multi-disciplinary team with elective and emergency obstetric work as a Maternity Theatre Practitioner.

We require professional, flexible, motivated and committed team members capable of delivering high quality, patient-focused care within a busy, progressive and varied department.

The post holder will be expected to work with the perioperative multidisciplinary team,  to provide effective care within Scrub and Post Anaesthetic care disciplines, in line with scope of practice and departmental need.

The post holder will support the Theatre Leadership Team to ensure standards of practice and care quality are upheld; this includes acting as a role model, supporting the learning of others and contributing to the development and implementation of improvement ideas.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for:

  • The assessment of patient needs, the development of programs of care and for the implementation and evaluation of these programs.
  • Carry out all relevant forms of care.
  • Provide skilled assistance within the Operating Department environment and to continue to develop enhanced surgical skills related to the speciality, commensurate with your level of competence.
  • To act as a role model to students.
  • To present a positive professional image of the organisation and the theatre team.
