Senior Staff Nurse Part Time 23 hrs per week Paediatric Oncology.            Permanent part time vacancy.  We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join T11 North, ready to care for young children aged 1-13 years and their families with an oncology/haematology diagnosis. Our patients undergo a range of treatments including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, proton beam and molecular radiation treatment. We also provide palliative care when needed.  We run a small daycare service alongside the inpatient ward to provide supportive care for our outpatients and ambulating children, that requires a wide range of clinical skills.  Are you a band 6 or an experienced band 5 ready to progress looking for a new job? We are looking for experienced band 5/6 paediatric nurses with at least 2 years oncology/haematology experience, (chemotherapy competent).  As a band 6 we are looking for confident staff with leadership, development and organisation skills, to help coordinate a safe and efficient delivery of care.  Our unit is committed to the care of young children and their families going through a difficult time in their lives. We have a group of dedicated nurses who aim to make the ward a pleasant environment. We work very closely with our MDT colleagues to provide family centred and holistic care.  You are welcome to visit the ward and chat to us if you are interested and want to know more.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior staff nurse you will work in both the inpatient and daycare setting. All staff are expected to work a mixture of days, weekends and nights if working on the inpatient side.  There is an expectation to act as a role model and mentor the junior staff and students whilst supporting your colleagues and working as part of the team.  T11 North have an excellent MDT and we work very closely to provide holistic care for the children and their family in their cancer journey.  We strive to maintain a high standard of clinical work when carrying out nursing procedures. Our Education team support staff on the ward if training is needed to refresh or learn new skills.

Main Duties  You will be responsible for the safe custody of medication, including checking and administration.  Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework, you will motivate colleagues, champion service user safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement.
