We have exciting opportunities for development opportunities within BHOC SDEC!

We are expanding our team of Senior staff Nurses to support patients receiving urgent and emergency care following SACT/BMT or with complications relating to malignancy.  There are also opportunities to work with patients with non malignant haematology disorders and to treat patients on supportive pathways. A key component of the role will be supporting patients contacting our telephone triage service for access to advice services. Experience in haematology, oncology, or urgent care would be an advantage but a supportive introduction to the specialities will be offered. A commitment to patient safety, a desire to learn and develop and strong team working skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Practice

• Deliver safe, evidence‑based nursing care to patients with haematological and oncological conditions
• Safely triage and advise patients over the phone
• Support patients to avoid hospital admission and attendance by planning ahead and assessing risk
• Assess, monitor, and manage treatment‑related side effects, including acute oncological emergencies
• Perform venepuncture, cannulation, central venous access device (CVAD) care (e.g. PICCs, ports)
• Provide holistic assessment, symptom management, and patient education
• Act as a clinical role model, maintaining high standards of infection control and medicines management
• Support the junior team and offer supervision and development opportunities
• Work closely with the supervisory Sister to support the service
