Job overview

The Doncaster and Bassetlaw Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service is looking to recruit an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to be part of our special schools team and mainstream schools team.

This exciting role provides the successful candidate with an opportunity to develop their assessment and therapeutic skills, working with school aged children, with speech, language and/or communication needs in a mainstream or special school setting,.

The successful candidate will deliver a speech and language therapy service for children and young people within Doncaster and Bassetlaw . They will provide independent assessment and treatment of children as well as developing and implementing specialist programmes of care and treatment for individual patients with communication difficulties. They will be an integral part of the team, participating in the ongoing development of the service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to:

Be a qualified clinician within their speciality

Provide clinical expertise in supporting the delivery of high standards of therapeutic care for patients within their care / speciality

Manage own caseload and to provide a high standard of assessment, management, treatment and advice to meet the needs of patients.

Work collaboratively with colleagues in health, social care, local authority and other agencies to meet the needs of patients.

Ensure the efficient and effective use of resources available within the team.

Work with other members of the team in the development of the service.

Ensure Clinical Governance is integral to service delivery within the specialty area.

Represent the Therapy Team and contribute to the development of the wider Therapy service within Clinical Therapies.
