As the band 7 Lead in Private Care  Pre Assessment Clinic you will be responsible for ensuring the Private care Pre-assessment department operates smoothly on a day-to-day basis, engaging with other relevant departments as required so that our service needs are met through the delivery of high quality care.

You will be required to support the  Management team, Director of Clinical Services  and Operations Manager in the planning and implementation of issues arising from the Trust Board Strategies.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Band 7 Nurse to join our team. This post will play a crucial role in ensuring quality and safe care is maintained, whilst moving forward to meet the evolving needs of the service and population we serve.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role are to ensure the safe running of the Private Care Pre admission / outpatient department day to day, ensuring the patients receive a high standard of care.

You will be required to:

  • Have 24-hour responsibility for the provision of clinical care and standards in the department
  • Responsible for co-coordinating and make effective use of staff, supervise staff and ensure training is maintained.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and provide clinical leadership for staff.
  • Act as a role model and leader to nursing staff
  • Ensure cost effective use of resources

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ensure that the department operates smoothly on a day-to-day basis, engaging with other relevant departments as required.

Deputise for the Lead Nurse as necessary.

Support the Lead Nurse and the Senior Nursing and Operations Manager in the planning and implementation of issues arising from the Trust Board Strategies.

Supervise the maintenance of equipment and ordering of supplies, ensuring all equipment complies with national standards.

Participate in budget setting and manage the delegated budget accordingly.

Maintain the department according to hospital and department policies within the budget available.

Lead in the complaints management process, participating in the Trust’s Risk Management process as appropriate.

Ensure the clinical area undertakes an annual risk assessment and that outcomes are identified and actioned.

Establish appropriate systems within the ward for the monitoring of quality standards, facilitate audit of services, risk management, complaints and act upon them accordingly.

Ensure that specific specialised procedures and protocols to cover all aspects of care within the ward are readily available for staff.

Be flexible with working hours to facilitate the smooth running of the unit.

Promote and initiate innovations and change related to improvement of clinical services.

Be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring good communication with other departments internally and externally.

Utilise staffing resources to provide the most effective cover for the department.

Plan staff off-duty, ensuring appropriate skill mix for each shift.

Cover any sickness or absence with temporary staff.

Maintain records of staff sickness and annual leave, implementing relevant actions in conjunction with Trust policies and procedures.

Manage any departmental staff disciplinaries, grievances and capability issues in line with Trust policies and procedures, liaising with the Human Resources Department and Modern Matron / General Manager as appropriate.

Co-ordinate the recruitment, selection and deployment of all grades of staff.
