Key Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To organise/supervise/perform radiographic/imaging/interventional procedures according to any protocols provided, and to supervise other staff, as appropriate
- To assist in the daily operational management of the services
- To maintain high standards of patient care, clinical practice and safety
- To keep abreast of, and embrace where appropriate, current techniques and developments particularly in relation to specialised imaging modalities.
- To assist in the education and training of staff as appropriate, as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students and encourage professional development
- To adhere to all Health & Safety Guidelines and all Whole Hospital and Department PPGs.
- To ensure that Radiation Protection Rules are applied at all times and to be familiar with and comply with National Ionising Radiation Legislation.
- To participate in the current out of hours emergency services roster as required
- To be observant in relation to equipment faults and errors and to report all defects or occurrences to Radiography Service Manager or deputy.
- To participate in all Clinical Audit & Quality Improvement Programmes as required
- To attend relevant post-graduate courses and to undertake/assist with research projects
- To adhere to the professional guidelines laid down by the Irish Institute of Radiographers
- To perform all other duties in the Radiology Department or its satellites deemed appropriate to the grade by the Radiography Service Manager
- The post holder may be required, from time to time, to deputise for a Clinical Specialist Radiographer in his/her area of expertise.
