We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, research-experienced radiographer to become a key member of our Radiography Research Unit. This two-year fixed term 8A position will work alongside the sarcoma unit to translate  research findings into genuine and significant changes in clinical practice for the benefit of patients with cancer not only within the Royal Marsden but nationally and  internationally.

Main duties of the job

The key responsibilities for the Senior (Nurse, AHP, Pharmacist, Therapeutic Radiographer) Researcher are to provide management, leadership, and expertise in applied cancer research, using a breadth of methodologies and working across, and with research teams, disciplines, patients, Patient and Public contributors and wider academic staff.

This includes acting as a resource and advisor to these groups and supporting the radiography and applied cancer research group while maintaining a high quality of service to those involved in research studies.  It is the responsibility of the post holder, working with the lead clinical academic radiographer, to keep abreast of national and international methodological approaches which benefit research undertaken in this unit.  The post holder will be expected to attend internal or external meetings as required by their line manager. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to both internal and external educational programmes as appropriate.

  • To be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective management of the applied health researchers in the team, liaising with other staff as appropriate.
  • To work with the lead clinical academic radiographer to quickly resolve problems and operational issues and to contribute strategically to implement relevant changes to issues raised.
  • To support the Clinical Research Executive to ensure an environment that is responsive to the changing needs and strategy of the R&D Department, BRC and Trust, enhancing institutional reputation.
  • To be able to work autonomously in all areas of practice related to Applied Health Research.
  • Form alliances and partnerships (internally and externally).
