An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative individual to our team as a Senior Public Health Practitioner working across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The area is subject to a range of highly complex issues; the people of Cwm Taf Morgannwg have the poorest health in Wales and healthy life expectancy is the lowest of any of the Health Boards in Wales. This population profile has an impact on the breadth and complexity of the work undertaken by the Public Health Team. The post holder will contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Systems Working elements (wraparound) of a nationally and regionally funded healthy weight programme for children and families, currently called Pwysau Iach Plant Yng Ngymru (PIPYN).
The post sits within the Public Health Directorate but will work jointly with the Public Health Dietetics team as part of PIPYN. The role involves working with specific target groups in a range of settings, in partnership with local communities and partner organisations. The post holder will provide specialist advice and support on the development of the systems working elements of the PIPYN programme and other public health programmes, and support community health development approaches and initiatives to address health inequalities.
The team is committed to agile working and will involve home working alongside working in office sites across Cwm Taf Morgannwg.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. For more information, see ‘Welsh Language Guidance’ in the documents right at the bottom.
