An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Band 6 rotation scheme.

You should have: •    Excellent communication and team working skills •    Completed core junior rotations including ITU, Medicine / Elderly care, neurology and orthopaedics. •    HPC and CSP registration

We actively encourage continuing professional development through clinical supervision and a comprehensive in-service training programme. You will be well supported by an experienced team of lead respiratory physiotherapists including a clinical specialist physiotherapist and a consultant respiratory physiotherapist. You will have the opportunity to develop your senior skills with supervision of juniors and students and involvement in audit and service development.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will complete rotations including the following areas: •    Acute respiratory medicine including the physiotherapy-led non-invasive ventilation service •    Critical care and surgery including head and neck (maxilla-facial and ENT), abdominal (including oesophagogastric, pancreaticohepatic and colorectal surgery), breast and gynae-oncology surgery •    Cardiac rehabilitation, Pulmonary rehabilitation and respiratory out-patients •    Medical rehabilitation including facilitating early supported discharge within A&E and MAU

The physiotherapy department is committed to providing excellent patient care across seven days. You will also contribute to the emergency respiratory on-call rota.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To provide physiotherapy to relevant patients within clinical specialty area, in a range of settings including inpatients, outpatients and patient homes.

To assess and treat patient’s in relevant rotational area.  To support the team in the organisation and provision of an efficient, high quality and co-ordinated physiotherapy service for patients in each area.  To undertake a defined clinical caseload.  To ensure that patient and service standards and priorities are met.  To provide clinical supervision to assigned junior physiotherapists, technical instructors, physiotherapy assistants and students.
