Job overview

A permanent position has arisen for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to work 22.5 hours predominantly with our inpatient team at Bromyard Community Hospital (some flexibility to provide cover at Leominster Community Hospital is required).

As a key member of the MDT, you will provide high quality assessment and treatment to patients, demonstrating clinical autonomy.  You will manage patients with a range of conditions, including; neurological, respiratory, orthopaedics, and frailty. You will also be involved in day to day operational management of the inpatient therapy service and work with professional leads to develop the service further.

The post holder should have relevant experience and be committed to providing high quality evidence based practice and excellent patient experience.  You should be able to prioritise your workload, manage your time efficiently .  You will play an active part in on-going in-service training and clinical supervision providing leadership, support and teaching to colleagues in order to support your own professional development and others.

You will need to be innovative and have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will require an ability to work flexibly, exploring ideas, and adapting practices to deliver more efficient prudent services in line with local and national drivers.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the therapy and wider multidisciplinary team, Band 6 senior therapists use specialist skills in a variety of areas to provide direct high quality and effective therapeutic care and support to patients.

Within the scope of the role, the post holder will independently plan, complete specialist assessment and deliver interventions.  They will be responsible for independently managing their own patient caseload, demonstrating clinical autonomy, specialist clinical reasoning, prioritisation and manage competing demands. Supervision is clear and direct from senior therapy staff and includes formal training, supervised sessions, advice and support.

The post holder will initiate and contribute to service development, demonstrate self-development and will be responsible for supervision of others and delegate appropriate tasks to registered and non-registered staff.  The band 6 senior therapist will be required to participate in 7 day working and for physiotherapists to join the on call rota once competencies have been achieved. This post may include working with adults and/or children.
