Are you looking for an exciting challenge?  Due to an internal move, we are seeking to appoint a forward-thinking, enthusiastic and clinically experienced Pharmacist to join our Homecare Team.

With the increasing number of biologics being reviewed by NICE, Homecare is becoming a clear route of cost-effective prescribing and supply for managing the long term medicine needs of patients.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be responsible for leading, managing and strategically developing the service for our Biologics and Homecare patients, including Rheumatology, Gastroenterology and Dermatology.

One of the key elements of this role is to manage switching of biologics agents in line with Trust objectives. You will lead on these initiatives and report on biologic use within the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be responsible for leading, managing, strategically developing and delivering a specialist pharmacy service to patients requiring biologics.

To clinically screen prescriptions for biologics and high-cost drugs.

To manage and provide clinical support to the Homecare Team.

To ensure compliance with best practice and medicines legislation within the relevant areas including homecare

To provide specialist advice regarding the use of biologics for all patients across the Trust and facilitate good prescribing practice in these areas.

To lead work with the specialist nurses & consultants to implement timely biosimilar switches to maximise savings to the trust.

To lead work with the specialist nurses & consultants in setting up biologics review clinics to review long term patients prescribed biologics.
