Job overview

Specialist community mental health occupational therapist managing a clinical caseload including dementia patients, complex mental health conditions contributing specialist knowledge to a multidisciplinary team, supporting colleagues, and providing practice placement education. Main duties of the job

  • Main duties: ·        Manage and prioritise own clinical workload in line with the changing needs of the team and the service. ·        Carry out initial assessment(s) as required by the service: standardised and non-standardised as appropriate. ·        Carry out additional assessments and interventions as necessary. ·        Reflect on complex facts gathered or situations presented and use analysis and judgment skills to consider options for interventions, and outcomes.  ·        Plan and implement specialist interventions/care in partnership with the service user, if possible, with the carer if necessary and in consultation with colleagues. ·        Monitor and evaluate the outcome of interventions/ care in partnership with the service user, if possible, with the carer if necessary and in consultation with colleagues. ·        Maintain clinical records adhering to quality standards set. ·        To act as duty person when rostered, to include triaging referrals, coordinating shift, and acting as team contact. ·        Take responsibility for, or participate in, planning continuing care.  ·        To care coordinate when demands arise.
