Band 7 Senior Occupational Therapist - Children and young people’s intensive support team - Fixed Term to 30-Nov-2027.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist who would like to come and work within the children’s and young people’s intensive support hub (CYP ISH)
The CYP ISH Team is a 7 day service, 8am-8pm.
The postholder will work within a MDT and closely with core CAMHS to support children, young people and their families who are at risk of hospital admission and require help and support with their mental health, and who may find it difficult to access the range of services currently available due to social circumstances or significant vulnerabilities.
The role will also involve developing close working relationships with the wider sector agencies.
The post will include a variety of interventions including contributing to referral meetings, MDT discussions, consultation to professionals, providing evidenced based therapeutic interventions. As the CYP ISH Team is a shared caseload the postholder will be required to hold cases and act as shift lead/duty lead for the team alongside identified specific OT work.
The CYP ISH team use an approach that is modelled by the I THRIVE model which is an integrated, person centred to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, person-centred care to children, young people and their families.
The post is fixed term to 30-Nov-2027.
Secondment would be considered with prior agreement sort from line manager.
Main duties of the job
Be a senior member of the CYP ISH team demonstrating the ability to make decisions and influence the development of services, and work with clients in a variety of health/community/inpatient settings.
Participate in the development of an evolving Specialist service.
Participate in the development and provision of the Children’s Services Occupational Therapy role in North Staffordshire.
To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of occupational therapy services within a designated area / team holding responsibility for a defined caseload and projects.
Effectively manage and prioritise a designated caseload
Will be required to teach staff including both students and qualified and unqualified team members.
To actively promote and maintain effective communication between multi-disciplinary/agency professionals across agencies to ensure co-ordinated and high quality care for patients and their families
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Team Manager be accountable and responsible for managing the occupational therapy waiting list for a defined clinical caseload that reflects the priorities of the local service by ensuring the assessment of therapy needs, particularly in relation to:
Using highly developed specialist knowledge to independently undertake complex assessments and evaluate interventions with clients with diverse environmental, social, physical and mental health needs; adapting approach to the varying level of need.
Close working with other services aiming to reduce health inequalities and improve access to universal services.
Opportunities to support access to mainstream health services for older persons.
The provision of timely intervention aimed at promoting and maintaining the health of older persons. This will be achieved through individual and group therapy and where necessary the implementation of therapeutic interventions.
Provide assessment, training and advice on lifestyle changes and adaptations to the client’s physical and social environment for the client and carers.
