Job summary

Main duties of the job

  • You will be a registered staff nurse and have excellent assessment, planning and evaluation skills to deliver clinical care to patients and support our Nursing Assistants.
  • You will coordinate and manage care ensuring that all calls are effectively assessed, triaged, allocated and recorded. You will have an overview of the service as a whole to ensure that patients and staff remain safe and care is appropriate and effective overnight. E.g. re-allocating work to cover unexpected staff absence. At times you will be expected to work clinically and deliver direct patient care, though the majority of your role will be clinical triage via telephone.
  • You must have excellent communication, organisational and IT skills as you will be coordinating care for a large number of complex patients.
  • You will provide clinical leadership, including line management of Band 5 Staff Nurses, and oversee line management of our Band 3 Nursing Assistants.
  • You must be able to think on your feet, problem solve and juggle conflicting priorities as well as motivate others in challenging times and utilise the resources available to you effectively.

The hours of work are 17:00pm-22:00pm over 7 days a week (including bank holidays).

The role is based from Hunslet Health Centre, though it is expected that you could travel across the city of Leeds during your shift to deliver patient care.

It would be expected that you are available to work on a rota over 7 evenings per week, 365 days per year.
