The Nuclear Medicine department is part of the Imaging Directorate at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM). The department consists of a diverse staffing group comprising of technologists and radiographers, assistant technologists, nursing staff and integrated radiology and physics support. Such a combination of staff ensures a ready availability of expertise when and where it is required and allow us to perform the full breadth of Nuclear Medicine services including Radiopharmacy work and SPECT-CT investigations.

Main duties of the job

To work as a Senior Nuclear Medicine Practitioner/ Radiographer, actively involved in all aspects of technical work required for imaging, non-imaging, in-vitro counting, therapeutic and radiopharmacy procedures. The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within Nuclear Medicine, consisting of admin and clerical staff, technologists, radiographers, nurses, physicists and clinicians.

The post holder may be required to rotate through all areas of the department including radiopharmacy and PET-CT.  They will be required to work without supervision and will be expected to participate in the supervision of more junior qualified and unqualified staff.  Flexible working practices within the department require that all staff work as a team to ensure that daily workload is fully covered.

The post holder is expected to take part in the organisation of the workload, providing guidance to more junior staff and liaising with other senior technologists, medical, nursing and secretarial staff as necessary. On occasion, the post holder may be the most senior practitioner in the department and will be expected to act as the daily operational lead for the department.
