Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking Senior Neuro Physiotherapist to join our dynamic Neurology team. This is a fixed term, part-time position based within Neuro Outpatients, offering an excellent opportunity to develop and apply specialist skills within a supportive and progressive service.

As part of this role, you will provide high-quality assessment and treatment for a wide range of neurological conditions, including both upper and lower motor neurone disorders. The post also offers the opportunity to lead neurological hydrotherapy and aqua gym sessions, contributing to innovative rehabilitation pathways and patient-centred care.

We offer flexibility around working hours and contract length, and welcome informal conversations from those considering applying. Due to the nature of this fixed-term role, weekend working and on-call commitments are not required, unless this is something the successful candidate would be interested in pursuing.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Demonstrates advanced clinical skills within neurological rehabilitation
  • Is confident working autonomously within an outpatient environment
  • Brings a positive, proactive approach to service delivery
  • Values collaborative working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Is committed to ongoing professional development and high standards of care

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver a high-quality physiotherapy service by assessing and treating patients with complex presentations.
  • Supervise and mentor newly qualified physiotherapists, technicians, assistants, and students while contributing to the education of multidisciplinary team (MDT) staff.
  • Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) and actively participate in departmental activities.
  • Take part in the weekend and on-call service as required.
  • Weekend working commitments will be determined based on service demands and rotational requirements

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Implement relevant standards, policies, and best practices in patient care.
  • Independently assess and manage complex respiratory patients using clinical reasoning.
  • Develop and deliver personalised physiotherapy treatment plans.
  • Maintain professional and legal accountability, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Stay updated with clinical advancements, contributing to service development.
  • Participate in the respiratory on-call and weekend service.

Management & Leadership:

  • Effectively manage a dynamic caseload and respond to urgent referrals.
  • Supervise, support, and mentor junior staff, assistants, and students.
  • Contribute to service improvements and policy development.
  • Ensure safe use of physiotherapy equipment and report any defects
