Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin CAMHS Mental Health Support Team is currently recruiting Senior Mental Health Support Team Practitioners to join our school-based teams.
We are seeking fully qualified and registered EMHPs or CWPs, or professionals with a core qualification (such as Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health Nursing), who have substantial post-qualification or post-registration experience.
We are looking for Senior Practitioners who are effective clinicians and confident team leaders, able to contribute to both operational and clinical development. You will play a key role in strengthening service delivery and supporting our ongoing growth.
In this role, you will work with children and young people at an early intervention stage, supporting their emotional wellbeing and mental health. You will assess needs and identify appropriate approaches, including working with those presenting more complex mental health challenges.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will share your expertise with colleagues both within and outside the NHS, with a strong emphasis on collaborative partnership working with schools.

Main duties of the job
- To work as a senior member of the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) leading on the delivery of the service offer to the designated schools aligned to the team.
- Take responsibility for the management of a complex caseload, which includes, specialist assessment (within service specification), and care planning in conjunction with service user and carer, evaluation of individual treatment plans for CYP with mental health needs.
- Supervision of staff.
- Responsible for participating in the setting of quality standards, including the auditing, monitoring and reviewing of practice in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy.
- Assess patient's individual care needs, develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care.
- Deliver a range of interventions in accordance with the agreed plan of care and Pathway guidance.
- Complete and contribute, where appropriate to robust risk assessments and risk management plans. Deliver and promote positive risk taking, where appropriate, to improve quality of life and maximise occupational performance/independence.
- Maintain an effective reporting system by observing and reporting verbally and in writing on patient condition
- To encourage and support service user and carer involvement and participation.
- To attend and contribute to MHST business and development forums.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This role is to work as a senior practitioner in an exciting service within CAMHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. Two teams were established in 2020 and the MHST service has since expanded to incorporate more teams working with identified schools across the whole of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. We work closely as a service across all teams as we focus on expansion to cover all schools in the region by 2030.
The MHST service covers the whole of Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, with bases located at Bridgnorth Northgate, Telford Langley, and Severn Fields in Shrewsbury
