  • We are happy to consider both part-time and full-time applicants with a minimum of 23 hours per week.
  • This is a shift working role, across a 24/7 service including nights, weekends and bank holidays (12.5 hours typically from 07:30 – 20:00 or 20:00 – 07:30).

Main duties of the job

  • Assist in the implementation of agreed plans of care alongside the wider team and in collaboration with service users.
  • Assist members of the wider team to set up and perform clinical procedures.
  • Ensure clinical areas remain clean, tidy and well stocked.
  • Following appropriate training, undertake clinical care including monitoring and recording vital signs, taking swabs, venepuncture, removing catheters and cannulas etc.
  • Support and teach parents the skills required to establish and maintain infant feeding.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria. Applicants for the Band 3 Maternity Care Assistant roles must be able to evidence a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same role (Band 3 MCA within the NHS) to meet the salary requirements to qualify for sponsorship.

For this role it is essential that you have previous NHS or NHS primary care experience with a Care Certificate from an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation. Or that you are an internationally educated nurse/midwife/doctor who has worked in an acute NHS Trust within recent years with evidence of your degree verified by an ENIC report.
